What Is DTF Printing ?
DTF (Direct to Film) printing is a new digital transfer technology that prints high-resolution images directly onto special PET film. The design is then transferred onto various fabrics or substrates using heat and pressure. This technology combines the precision of digital printing with the flexibility of heat transfer, delivering vibrant, durable full-color results.
How DTF Printing Works
Design Preparation:
Create high-resolution images (typically 300dpi) with transparent backgrounds using design software.
Printing on Film:
Use a DTF printer and special ink to print the design on PET film.
Applying Hot-Melt Powder:
Coat the printed film with hot-melt adhesive powder, which sticks to the inked areas.
Curing:
Use a hot air dryer or heat press to melt and solidify the powder, creating a soft textured surface.
Heat Transfer:
Place the cured film onto the target fabric (e.g., T-shirts, canvas) and press with heat and pressure to transfer the image.
Finishing:
Peel off the PET film after cooling to reveal the finished product.
Advantages of DTF Printing
Wide Compatibility: Works on cotton, polyester, nylon, and more.
High-Quality Output: Delivers high-resolution, vibrant images, ideal for complex designs.
No Pretreatment Needed: Even white ink requires no fabric pretreatment.
Durable: Wash-resistant, crack-resistant, and long-lasting.
Efficient Production: Ideal for mass production—films can be quickly pressed onto garments.
