What Is Dye Sublimation Printing ?
Dye Sublimation Printing
Dye Sublimation Printing is a digital printing technique that turns dye ink into gas through heating. The gas then penetrates materials like polyester or coated surfaces, resulting in vibrant, high-quality, and long-lasting prints.
Process Workflow
1. Pattern Design: Design your image using computer software.
2. Transfer Printing: Print the design onto sublimation transfer paper using sublimation ink.
3. Heat Transfer: Place the transfer paper onto the polyester material or coated surface and press it under high temperature (180–200°C) for 30–60 seconds.
4. Final Display: The dye fuses into the material's fibers, making the image vivid, with excellent color fastness and durability.
Compatible Materials
Polyester Fabric: Sportswear, yoga clothes, fashion fabrics, T-shirts, apron, etc.
Coated Items: Mugs, aluminum plates, mouse pads, badges, tiles, etc.
Soft Furnishings: Flags, curtains, pillowcases, tablecloths, etc.
Note: Dye sublimation is not suitable for pure cotton or dark-colored cotton fabrics, as the dye cannot penetrate cotton fibers.
Advantages
Vibrant Colors & Sharp Details: Captures fine color gradations and vivid tones.
Durable: Prints are waterproof, UV-resistant, and scratch-resistant.
Suitable for Various Materials: Images or designs can be directly printed onto textiles, plastics, metals, wood, and many other materials.
Customization Ready: Ideal for small-batch and personalized production (e.g., custom T-shirts, souvenirs).
Eco-Friendly: No volatile solvents, odorless printing process.
Limitations
Higher Cost: Requires specialized equipment and consumables.
Slower Speed: Multiple passes needed to complete full-color images.
Material Restriction: Usually requires polyester fabrics or specially coated surfaces for effective transfer.
